Traverse and Enclave front exhaust pipe bracket: GM bulletin PIP5681C and a 2019 Traverse coverage adjustment
The Chevrolet Traverse has 109 owner complaints, close behind the Ford Escape. GM's bulletin PIP5681C covers the 2018-2022 Traverse and Buick Enclave. It describes a poor weld, or weak weld adhesion, on the bracket of the Bank 2 front exhaust pipe. The Traverse complaints peak on 2018-2020 models, so they fall inside that bulletin's model years.
For the 2019 Traverse, GM also issued Special Coverage Adjustment N212356540. It covers a mounting bracket on the front exhaust pipe that can separate from the pipe. If you own a 2019 Traverse, check your VIN against this coverage before paying for a front pipe.
Catalytic converter and muffler show up alongside exhaust pipe complaints
The catalytic converter is named in 78 of the exhaust pipe complaints. The muffler is named less often, but the gap between how often it appears and how often chance would predict is the widest of any part. If your quote includes the converter or muffler, it is no longer a flex-pipe job.
If the quote adds a converter to the pipe, price the catalytic converter separately, since it is named in 8% (78) of the 994 exhaust pipe complaints.
43% of exhaust pipe complaints describe smoke or a burning smell, and 23 report a fire
A report does not show that the pipe caused the fire or injury. Engine damage is the most common consequence owners reported, in 67 complaints.

What is our own estimate
The price range comes from our calculator's formula. Its parts prices, labor hours per job and shop-rate tiers are CalcScrape estimates, not a published price dataset. Checked against RepairPal's range ($1,297–$1,354) on 2026-10-06: our default's midpoint is 0% above the middle of that range. Methodology
